Arctic Ice Pilot starts planning for logistics and guiding operations in the Arctic for 2021

Ashley Perrin departed S/Y Qilak today in Tromso, after two-weeks sailing in Norway. Antarctic Ice Pilot provided consultancy services during the design/build of this high latitude explorer yacht,  launched in Holland in 2018. The trip’s goal was to experience first-hand destinations and facilities available in Northern Norway, gateway to Arctic adventure in East Greenland, Svalbard and beyond.

After leaving British Antarctic Survey, one of Ashley Perrin’s first commissions was as ice pilot and guide on the sailing yacht Vivid, a 27-metre superyacht that was visiting Chile and Antarctica during her circumnavigation. The expedition across a lively Drakes Passage superseded several weeks cruising down and exploring the ‘canals’ on the Chilean side of Patagonia.
